Louis Jeanneau
Louis, aged 92, passed away in his home at Columbian Manor in Saskatoon on September 29, 2023. Louis’ passing is being mourned by his daughters, Colette (Adrien) Thibault, Lisette (Denis) Detillieux, and his son, Léo (Joyce) Jeanneau. He is also lovingly remembered by 11 grandchildren, and 22 great-grandchildren as well as 3 sisters: Sr Marie Jeanneau, Annette Nieman and Bernadette Steckler, and 4 brothers: Bob (Irene), Paul (Gloria), Fr. Maurice and George (Heather), and his sister-in-law Alma Jeanneau. He also leaves to mourn his many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Louis was predeceased by his wife (2017) Thérèse Jeanneau (née Masson); parents, Adélard and Maria; his brother, Joe; his sisters Madéline Marchildon, and, in infancy, Annette Jeanneau; his sister-in-law Pauline Leclerc; his brothers-in-law Clément Marchildon, Pat Neiman and Pius Steckler. Louis was also predeceased on the Masson side by Thérèse’ parents, Gédéon and Églantine Masson; and by her siblings, Doril (Clarence) Baril, Hermine (Fernand) Neault, Laurette (François) Norman, and Florence (Alfred / Edwin) Altrogge, and in infancy, Annette, Muriel and Marie.
Louis grew up on the family farm in the vicinity of Peterson, SK. as the 2nd child of 11. Family meant everything to Louis. He was compassionate and caring, and a man of remarkable strength both physically and spiritually. Louis was a farmer by profession as well as a skilled carpenter, mechanic and overall handyman. His favorite place to be was on the farm. He had a tremendous knack for fixing the unfixable and inventing ways and tools to make thing happen.
The Jeanneau family relocated from Peterson to Prud’homme in 1949 and the farm operated in both regions until the mid-80’s. As a young man, Louis spent as much time as possible in the Peterson area and the Peterson house became his bachelor pad. That all changed soon after he met the love of his life, Terry. Upon marrying Terry in 1957, they purchased the Masson family farm in Prud’homme and farmed there until the mid-90’s.
Together they were great role models to their three children Colette, Lisette and Léo. They were always present and influential in the lives of their children and later the lives of Adrien, Denis and Joyce. Grandchildren had an immense importance in life. They were very involved in their community and church, and gave generously of their diverse talents. Their life together was a beautiful example of how two people with different skill sets can compliment each other and produce results together that are exponentially more than possible alone.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the Sts. Donatien and Rogatien Parish, in Prud’homme, SK, on Wednesday October 4th at 11:00 am. With Rev. Fr, Daniel Louh as celebrant. Interment will follow at the Sts. Donatien and Rogatien Parish cemetery. Donations in memory of Louis may be directed to the Sts. Donatien and Rogatien Cemetery. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Marc Blondeau of Kushneryk Funeral Service, Wakaw, SK, 306-233-4403.
