Lorraine Helen Murphy (nee Miller)
Our beloved Mother passed away on May 4th at the age of 93.
Lorraine was born in Toronto to Albert and Lydia Miller nee Meyers and spent her formative
years exploring the city with her parents. She had many fond memories of the city she loved.
Our Mother relocated to Alberta at the age of 12 with her parents. It was quite an adjustment
going from a large city to small town Rycroft. It was there she met our father Ken (deceased)
and together they had seven children. Our parents settled in Edmonton after a few moves which
took them to Kingston, Ontario and Germany, where our father was stationed with the Canadian
Army. Our Mother had great memories of their time in Germany, it was quite an adventure for
her.
After raising seven children Mom began a career working at the Alberta Land Titles, where she
excelled, and formed many great friendships. Once retired she had time to finally enjoy living in
a nice apartment overlooking the Edmonton river valley, a beautiful view she enjoyed for many
years.
Lorraine is survived by her children, Len and his wife Cathy Murphy, Glenn and his wife Sharon
Hobden, Susan and her husband Frank Fries, Carol, Shelley and her husband John Rees, and
Sharon. She was sadly predeceased by her son Rick.
She will be missed by her Grandchildren, David, Sean, Liz, Michelle, Erin, Kirsten, Joseph, Jordan
and her Great Grandchildren, Charlotte, Weston, Layton, Pearson, Lydia, and Henry
