Lorraine Dyer Obituary
Lorraine Dyer (McDonald)
October 9, 1942 – August 21, 2024
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Lorraine Dyer, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, who left us on Wednesday, August 21, 2024. She was a remarkable woman whose life was defined by her unwavering devotion to her family and her generous spirit. Her legacy of love and kindness will forever be cherished.
Lorraine’s memory will be cherished by her loving husband of 63 years, Marvin; children, Karin (Robert) Bougie, Robert (Teresa) Dyer, and Kathy Dyer; grandchildren, Chris Bougie, Matthew Bougie, Joshua Bougie, Nick Dyer, Kaylee Dyer, Emily Dyer, and Sutter Dyer; Great-grandchildren, Nevaeh Bougie, Fox Bougie, Harrison Bougie, Gillis Bougie, and Levi Bougie; sisters, Phyllis and Glenda.
Lorraine was predeceased by her parents, John A. and E. Gertrude McDonald.
Lorraine was deeply connected to her family, always present at their hockey games, Girl Guides meetings, and any activity that sparked their interest. She encouraged them to pursue their passions, providing steadfast support and guidance. Her nurturing nature was evident in her ability to lift others up, always ready to pick you up, dust you off, and send you on your way with renewed confidence. If something wasn’t quite right, she was there to fix it, ensuring that everyone felt cared for and valued.
A dedicated volunteer, Lorraine spent countless hours at the Christmas Hamper and Repeat Boutique, sharing her time and talents with those in need. She cherished moments spent playing cards, games, and Scrabble with the ladies and her grandchildren, creating lasting memories filled with laughter and love.
In her leisure time, Lorraine enjoyed knitting, bowling, and traveling, always eager to explore new places and experiences. She was also a talented cook and baker, known for her delicious chocolate cake with brown sugar icing and her famous fried chicken, which brought family and friends together around the table.
Lorraine was a wonderful wife and partner, whose love and commitment to her family were the cornerstones of her life. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of her loved ones.
Lorraine’s family would like to thank Dr. Joseph Ojedokun, the nursing staff, and the manager Sheryl at The Manor, for their kind and compassionate care of Lorraine during her stay.
In lieu of flowers a donation in Lorraine`s name can be made to the Whitecourt Christmas Hampers.
As per Lorraine`s wishes no formal service will be held at this time.
