Obituary
Lorraine Jukes, 85, of Lindsay, Ontario passed away on Saturday, June 24th, 2023, after a brief illness.
Lorraine loved the Toronto Blue Jays, Hungarian coffee cake, Englebert Humperdinck, beating Karen at monopoly, Sunday breakfast, playing the slots, champagne cocktails on Christmas morning, Linda’s beautiful quilts, Trish’s butter chicken, Robbie’s big hello’s, Brennan’s macaroni and cheese, watching Blue Bloods, beautiful gardens, her mother’s embroidery, visits from Matt & Joey, dinners at Hungarian Village, Jon Bon Jovi, lobster tail dinners, Wim’s positivity, bass fishing with dad, Harlequin Romances, Gertie the puppy, and time with her daughters.
She did not like waiting in line-ups, bad service, losing at slots, not catching any fish, or anyone hurting her daughters.
Her husband, Ron, was the love of her life. Whether adventuring, portaging, gardening, vacationing with sisters and brothers, or building something together, she cherished the time she had with him and missed him so much after he passed.
Mom was always up for the next bit of fun, whether that was going out for a Sunday drive, sneaking out to the Casino at 3 a.m., spending the day sewing funny backwards-fly, boxer shorts with Trish, or wrapping two hundred egg rolls with her girls.
She could be as prickly as a fishing lure and as sweet as a butterscotch humbug.
To her daughters, Karen and Trish, she leaves her ability to cast for, and perfectly clean bass, her love of spontaneous adventures, and her never-ending love for family.
To her grandsons, Brennan, Daniel, Matt, Joey, and Michael, she leaves her dedicated work ethic, and her unwavering belief that you can be anything you want to be.
To her great-grandchildren, she leaves her appreciation for what is truly precious in this life.
We are so grateful for the time we had with her, but she will be so missed.
As per Lorraine’s wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no formal service.
“If there ever comes a day when we can’t be together, keep me in your heart, I’ll stay there forever.”
