March 16, 1957 – November 29, 2023
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Lorne Donald Chabot, age 66 years, unexpectedly in his home on Wednesday, November 29, 2023.
Lorne was born on March 16, 1957 in Thunder Bay, Ontario and after attending local schools, he went to work for the CNR starting on the section, car checking and worked his way up to Car Control. He then transferred to CNR in Winnipeg for 11 years, retiring in May 2012.
Lorne loved playing baseball, hockey (where he won MVP and other trophies) and playing pool with his buddies. He also enjoyed meeting the boys for coffee most every night as well as playing golf and socializing with his friends.
Lorne is survived by his daughter, Heather Henderson; two grandchildren, Melanie and Patrice; and his step-father William Basil Dackiw. He was predeceased by his parents Donald Willis Chabot and Bernice Margaret Dackiw (nee Melanson).
Funeral services for Lorne will be held on Thursday, December 14, 2023 at 1:00pm in the EVEREST FUNERAL CHAPEL, 299 Waverley Street at Algoma. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens, where he will be laid to rest beside his mother. Visitation for family and friends will be held one hour prior to service time.
Should friends so desire, donations made in memory of Lorne to the Thunder Bay and District Humane Society would be greatly appreciated.
