It is with sad hearts that we announce the passing of Lorne Charles Franklin Disney on Saturday, October 7, 2023 at the age of 83.
Lorne was the much-loved husband of Marilyn Disney (Tripp) for 60 years, proud father of Deanna (Nicholas) Hood, Kevin Disney (Julie Leduc) and Janice Disney (Greg Minifie) and cherished grandfather of Michael (Samantha), Steven (Laura), Jason, Jesse, Brooklyne, Drea (deceased), Justyce, Sydney and great grandfather of Isabella, Sophie and Emma.
Lorne was predeceased by his parents Cecil and Jean Disney of Brooklin.
Lorne was brother to Joyce (Noel – deceased) Marshall, Gladys (Fred) Fiss, Sheila (Ray – deceased) McGuckin, Ivan (Gloria) Disney and brother in-law Doug (Anne – deceased) Tripp. Lorne will be fondly remembered by his many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Lorne grew up on a dairy farm and was active in 4H and enjoyed hockey and softball during his youth. He was the successful operator of LCD Holsteins until his herd dispersal in 1990. After his retirement from dairy farming he became a talented woodworker and operated Lorne’s Woodshed.
Lorne enjoyed spending time with family, especially his grandchildren. Travelling, gardening, camping and picking wild blueberries in northern Ontario were some of his favourite pastimes. His interest in music led him to learning to play the fiddle and eventually crafting 7 fiddles for the family. Music nights jamming with friends brought him great joy and connection.
Cremation has taken place, a private celebration of life will be held at a later date. If desired, memorial donations to the Alzheimer Society of Peterborough, Kawartha Lakes, Northumberland and Haliburton or to Parkinson’s Canada would be appreciated.
The family would like to thank the P.S.W’s from St. Elizabeths, Silver Lights Senior Services, Lindsay Ross Memorial Hospital, Caressant Care Mary Street Nursing Home and especially the staff in Cedar Court for their exceptional care.
