Lori Jean Squires
1959-2024
Lori Jean Squires, 64, of Stoney creek passed
away peacefully on April 28th, 2024 at the Moncton Hospital
with her son, Chad holding her hand.
She was born in Moncton on August 12th, 1959 the daughter
of the late Donald and Freda (Weston) Kennie.
Lori worked as a Human Service Councillor for all of her
career. She worked for MCRI for almost 25 years.
After that she worked at Lakeview Tower, Golden Years Home and last
worked in a group home. She was a hard worker and enjoyed
helping people.
Lori was a real Albert County girl, in her younger years
she loved going hunting and fishing with her dad. She was
very close to her grandparents, Pappy and Ruby Weston and she spent a
lot of time on Grindstone Island with them. She cherished
times spent outdoors and all the adventures she had
throughout her childhood. She played the piano and inherited
the talent of singing from her mother and the Weston family.
She really enjoyed listening to her favourite band- Supertramp. She
always enjoyed a good feed of lobster, it was her favorite.
She loved all animals and was like an animal whisperer where the
animals scensed she was safe. She loved her dog Maci and cat
Abbi.
Her family was her priority and she always did everything
she could for them. Her son, Chad, was the apple of her eye and she
loved him very much. She enjoyed family reunions and
get-togethers. She had a close relationship with many of her
aunts, uncles and cousins. Her happy place was at Locker Lake
(Lockhart Lake) in New Horton. She made many
memories there and if she wasn’t working she was at
the lake. Her fishing buddy Craig and her had many stories
that they would share and had many great laughs. Sometimes
what happened at Locker Lake stayed at Locker Lake.
Lori was courageous as she suffered with ALS, she had a
positive attitude and never wanted to put anybody out. She
faced many battles alone, doing everything she could to make sure
those she cared about didn’t have to suffer. She was the
most loyal friend anyone could have. She was smart,
stubborn and independent. She had the biggest heart in the
world. If you were loved by Lori you were lucky.
She would want all her family and friends to be there for Gerald and
Chad and help them cope with her loss. She will never be
forgotten and her smile will live on forever in our
hearts.
«GONE
FISHIN»
She will be deeply missed by her husband of 44 years,
Gerald; treasured son, Chad Squires of Stoney Creek; sister, Kelly
Kennie of New Horton; niece Heidi (Ryan); aunts and uncles, Betty
Weston (John), Ken Weston (Marie), Barb Miller (Terry), Carolyn
Kennie, Norma Weston and Doris Barbour. She will also be
missed by all her in-laws and the Squires family and by several
cousins; her dog Maci and cat Abbi.
The family would like to say a special thank you to all the
nurses and doctors at the Moncton Hospital, the 3rd Floor and
Palliative Care Nurses were excellent and we could n’t have
asked for better care for Lori. To Cousin Norma Wortman,
Sheena MacDonald and long time friend Bliss Nelson for all your help
and sitting with Lori and being there for the family, it was greatly
appreciated and will never be forgotten.
Honouring Lori’s own wishes there will be no visitation or
funeral service.
Anyone wishing to donate in memory of Lori, the charity of
the donor’s choice would be greatly
appreciated.
