It is with deep sadness that the family of the late Loretta Matterface of Fortune announces her passing. Loretta passed away at the Agnes Pratt Nursing Home in St. John’s on, July 6th, 2023 at the age of 77.
Leaving to mourn with a lifetime of wonderful memories are her niece, Pamela and husband Claude of Garnish; sisters, Mary Margaret Myles of Frenchman’s Cove, Sheila Bungay (Sandy) of Grand Bank, Jean Grandy (Gary) of Grand Bank, Diane Stacey (Grand Bank), and Bernardine Tucker (Robert) of Toronto; brothers, Patrick Stacey (Joyce) of Fortune, Brian Stacey of Point May, Paul Stacey (Celeste) of Point May, and Gerard Stacey (Hazel) of Point May; brother-in-law, Frank Hillier of Point May, and sister-in-law, Jeanette Stacey of Point May, Mary Stacey of Point May; sisters-in-law, Joan Forsey (Fred), Mae Cake (Russ) and Grace Smith of Gander; good friend, Edgar Hillier; plus a large number of nieces and nephews and friends.
A special thank you to the staff at The Agnes Pratt Nursing Home for all their kindness and caring for Loretta in the past few years and to her sister Jean and family, Mary Margaret and family, and niece Michelle Way for their kindness and patience as her disease progressed. It was greatly appreciated. A special thank you to Louise and Gary Noftall and family of St. John’s. Your love and devotion to Loretta over the last few years has been so greatly appreciated. You have been true friends to her and have become family. Loretta was truly blessed the day you came into her life. You were and are a miracle.
Loretta was predeceased by her husband, Mansfield; parents, Patrick and Theresa Stacey; sisters,Yvonne, Madonna, Suzanne (Tom), and Bridget (Maurice); brothers, Dennis and Rene; sister-in-law, Geneva; brothers-in-law, Sam, Almon, Aubrey, Bramdatt Deonarine; and parent’s-in-law Gerald and Margaret Matterface.
The Stacey Family will be holding a prayer and Funeral Service at Wiseman’s Funeral Home in Fortune beginning at 1pm on Monday July 10, 2023. A gathering to celebrate Loretta’s Life will take place before the service from 10:30am to 12:30pm.
Inurnment to follow at a later date.
In Loretta’s memory, donations may be made to The Agnes Pratt Nursing Home Long Term Care, Stella Burry Unit.
