Howard Alan Longley passed away peacefully in his sleep with his family by his side at Bluewater Health on December 27th, 2024. He was predeceased by his wife of 50 years and high school sweetheart Jackie. (Pettit) (2016). He is survived by his daughters Kathy Tucker (Paul Saunders) and Krista Turner (Dan aka Stanley), his grandkids, Brock (Dani), Danielle (Jon), Evan, Kate and Ava and the lights of his life, his two great grandchildren, Myles and Blair. Also survived by his special “lady” friend, Pauline Houle, his sisters Verna LaTour, Linda (Ken) Williamson and sister-in-law Donna Longley and many nieces and nephews. Special longtime friends Bruce Lester and Barry Mattingley. He was predeceased by his parents George and Cecelia Longley, Carmen Wilson and special mom and dad Clarence and Anna Leaper. Also predeceased by brothers Lorne (2022) and George Longley (1999). Howard was proud to be a retired Sarnia Firefighter for 27 years. He loved to tell stories of the people’s lives he was able to save. He has many friends and firefighting brothers that are like family and have helped him through this journey. After retirement in 1998, he ran his own Fire Equipment Service Business, Longley Enterprises. He loved to build or fix anything that anyone needed help with grandkids always said, grandpa can fix anything. He found joy in later years congregating with Pauline and friends at Tim Hortons. We want to thank Dr. Borek and staff (Tracy Williams), Dr. Lebert and the oncology team, Dr. Kim and the palliative team and the exceptional nurses on the 5th floor.
Funeral Details
Family and friends will be received at STEADMAN BROTHERS FUNERAL CHAPELS, Brigden on Thursday, January 2, 2025 from 4pm to 8pm. Funeral service will be held on Friday, January 3, 2025 at 11:00 am from the funeral home.
Donations
The family would appreciate donations to the Canadian Cancer Society cancer.ca/ and Bluewater Health palliative care (Bluewater Health Foundation).
