It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother, great- grandmother, godmother and friend. Windsor has lost a true ambassador, yet heaven has gained a new receptionist.
Mom passed away peacefully on the 8th of January 2024 at 89 years young.
She will be excited to reunite with her husband Don {1996}, who was the true love of her life, her parents Louis {1976} and Mabel {1954), her infant daughter Mary Ellen (1966}, and two baby angels.
Loving sister of the late D’Arcy (1992) and wife Anne (2017) and Sister-in-law to Clarence and Dolly Comartin and Ursula and Roland (1982) Charest. Lifetime best friend of Angela and Edward (2006) Hogan.
Cherished mother of Diane Bergoine and Leigh and Victoria Comartin. Gram to Erica McKenzie (Brent), Jody LITTLE (Bryan, 2022) and Tammi Renaud (Chad). GG Co to Michael and Julia Hanlon, Elle and Aubrey McKenzie, and Callie and Shaye RENAUD
Mom will be missed by many nieces, nephews, godchildren, cousins and many, many wonderful friends from all walks of life. She loved her community and all its components and enjoyed serving in many capacities throughout her life. She was a dedicated volunteer to the CWL since 1953, a Hospice volunteer since 1979, and a volunteer at the Capital Theatre for many years. She also worked for both schoolboards for over 20 years, usually in clerical positions, but is best remembered for her 10 years at Assumption High School working in the library.
In 1997, shortly after the death of her Don, Mom began working at Families First. This afforded her an opportunity to serve and honour many friends and family members during their journey, which made her so very proud.
Mom was known to many as “Aunt Lou”, but this took on a whole new meaning once she became involved with the theatre, under the direction of David Hogan and David Rogers. The playhouse with its many characters became a passion for and a new family for Mom. This allowed for her to engage and enjoy others like only she could do. She also got to see all the shows for free. That’s just too funny.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Mom’s name can be made to the Hospice of Windsor, or a charity of your choice.
Visitation will be on Friday, January 12, 2024 from 2-6 p.m. & 7-9 p.m. at Families First, 3260 Dougall Ave., South Windsor, 519-969-5841. On Saturday, January 13, 2024 friends are invited to join the family after 9:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church (4401 Mt. Royal Drive) followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. Cremation to follow.
