Obituary
It’s with deep sadness we announce Linda’s passing on September 11, 2023, after a five-month courageous battle with cancer. Born January 31, 1960, in Cranbrook, BC, Linda was 63 years old and passed away surrounded by love and compassion, just as she lived her life and blessed others.
Linda’s most cherished accomplishment in life was being a mother to her two sons, Brandon and Chad, and a loving wife, dedicated travel partner, and best friend to her husband Brad for 40 years. Raising her two boys was her pride and joy in life, and watching them become strong, independent men was very fulfilling for her. Over the years, the family lived in Calgary, Cranbrook, Powell River, and Quesnel, settling in Morinville, Alberta. Linda was excited to see both her sons find their true love, Brandon with wife Lisa, and Chad with fiancé Sara.
She was predeceased by her parents, Harry and Nanette, and sister Louise. Linda has a large extended family who mourn her loss including Lori (Ian Stuart), Martin (Lisa), Lois (Kerry Murray), Lisa (Murray Vogt), Sandra (Derek Hamilton), Sharon (Mike Ironside), Heather (Brian Benson), Paul with many nieces and nephews.
Linda was a passionate nurse, starting her 28-year career as a licensed practical nurse (LPN), after realizing her love for nursing as a health care aide. In her dream job, at the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA), Linda found her purpose in life, to teach and guide other nurses. As a respected mentor to many LPNs, Linda patiently guided them through their competency work. She worked with each one who needed assistance, tirelessly helping them to work through the regulatory expectations. This was Linda’s gift, and she will be truly missed by her family of nurses and her colleagues.
Linda had an endless pursuit for knowledge and studied almost continually throughout her life. She studied adult and continuing education, earned a Master of Arts in Learning and Technology, learned about curriculum design, and continued fine-tuning her competence all the way into the last months of her life.
Linda was an avid cook, baker, gardener, golfer, traveler, and adventurer and was deeply loved by her family, friends, and colleagues. The void she leaves is only manageable through the incredible legacy and memories she leaves behind.
