Linda passed on January 30, 2024, in Victoria, BC. She was born on September 30, 1953, in Portage la Prairie, Manitoba.
Linda will be greatly missed by her husband William, her children Maxfield (partner Rebecca), Jennifer (husband Nicolas), and her grandson Henry.
Family and friends were very important to Linda, and she will be missed by her siblings Robert (wife Marney and daughter Serena), Kathryn (husband Randy and sons Liam and Sascha), and Barbara. She will also be missed by her many other relatives and friends, some of whom she’s known since high school.
After getting married in 1982 Linda and Bill settled in Victoria, where Linda worked at Playfair Toys for many years before moving to Bolen Books. There she got to recommend children’s books to all ages and chat with friends walking through Hillside Mall.
Linda enjoyed a simple life where she had many interests, including nature, reading, and writing, and left behind a legacy of learning, kindness, and generosity.

First at Playfair Toys, and then at Bolen Books, Linda graced my daughters’ early lives; steady, kind and thoughtful, she always had time for them, as she did for so many children. She was one of the best listeners I’ve ever met, and her interest and concern for others was evident. I had the privilege of working with her for many years at the bookstore; her enthusiasm and delight in new discoveries and new ideas was central to the pleasure she took in helping customers, some of which sought her out for years, appreciating her special kind of caring assistance.
Her legacy, however, is clearly her family; Jen, Max and Bill, she was so proud of you all, quite rightly.
I’m so sorry that she left so soon, but so glad that she was here.
