Lily’s Obituary
It is with great sadness and SO much love that we say good bye even though our hearts were not ready. Lily Louise Freeborn, passed away on Friday March 08, 2024 in Peace River, AB, at the age of 81 years. Lily battled cancer courageously and fearlessly for several years. Lily was born in Parry Sound, Ontario and moved to the homestead in Sunset House with her parents Fred and Rose Freeborn who raised 3 daughters Marriette, Lily & Nancy. Lily is predeceased by her Mother Rose Freeborn, her Father Fred Freeborn and her sister Nancy Freeborn Huggard. Lily is survived by her sister Marriette and many nieces and nephews.
Lily lived a greater part of her life on the homestead with her parents helping out with chores and living the farm life…. she enjoyed the outdoors and remained on the farm until her mother and father passed & then made High Prairie home.
She lived at Green Acres in High Prairie for 30 years and then moved to the Golden Age Manor up until November of 2023. Lily adapted well to the town life and to the conveniences it offered. Lily LOVED life, she enjoyed her walks in the town of High Prairie as well as going back to the farm to enjoy time with her sister Mariette. She was very social and loved to meet and talk with people & loved being a part of the community. She had met a huge number of her friends at the Kingdom Hall where she found spiritual comfort. Lily liked to go out to the A&W for a burger or the Dairy Queen as she loved her ice cream & chocolate, but also like to shop for a bargain at various stores. If you mentioned ‘shopping’ she’d have a HUGE smile on her face.
After being diagnosed with cancer she said she would keep doing what she was doing until she couldn’t anymore and she continued to do so for more than 2 ½ years, she kept doing the things she loved. Lily will be dearly missed by family and friends.
