Lillian Patricia Wise (nee Wallace), passed away peacefully at the age of 86 in Black Diamond Alberta, on December 31st 2023 at Oilfields Hospital.
Born on November 28th, 1937 in Burnaby, BC. She was the third of sixteen children born to parents John and Helen Wallace. The family lived in several small towns throughout central and southern Alberta, eventually settling in Calgary for the large part of her life.
Lillian married Eugene Hagen on December 23, 1955. Together they had two children, Laurie and Tim. Together they made endless wonderful memories camping and exploring the outdoors.
Lil was married for a second time, to Emmett Wise who inspired her love for horses. Emmett and Lil (Pat) spent many happy years together camping hunting and horseback riding.
After Emmett’s passing, Lillian moved to Sundre, Alberta. She lived happily there with her partner Vern Conners for more than 25 years. Lil and Vern filled their time fishing, camping, and berry picking.
Lillian moved to Black Diamond, Alberta in 2015, where she lived with her daughter for a few years, before moving to the High Country Lodge.
She was a wonderful person who never had an unkind word to say about anyone. She lived by her favorite saying of “If they are talking about me, they are leaving someone else alone”.
More than anything Lil cherished her family and friends. She was a great listener, a wise advisor, had a fantastic laugh, a wonderful sense of humor, and was incredibly fun to spend time with.
Regardless of what you called her – Lillian, Lil, Pat, Mom, Sister, Aunt, Grandma, Cousin, Baba or Friend, she was truly one of a kind, and is absolutely irreplaceable. Lillian will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed by everyone who was blessed enough to have met her.
Lillian is predeceased by her parents – John and Helen, Sisters – Anita, May, Anne, and Glenda, and Brother – John (Jackie).
She is survived by her younger siblings – Audrey, Richard (Maureen), Donna (Alvin), Peggy, Bill (Marg), Bud (Lucille), Andy (Cathy), Bobby (Heather), Leslie (Joe), and Allen (Heather). Her children – Laurie (Lloyd) and Tim (Linda). Her grandchildren – Kellie, Dana, Cody and Amber. Her great grandchildren Kayden, Kyla, Kailey, Ruger, Ryan, Elaina, Maya, as well as countless Cousins, Nieces, Nephews and Friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff and volunteers at High Country Lodge, Age Care McKenzie Town, and the Rising Sun Long Term Care for their wonderful compassionate care, understanding and support.
