Obituary
Lila Catherine Tucker (Wall) 92, Tatamagouche, passed away peacefully on November 25, 2024 in Willow Lodge, Tatamagouche. Born in Tatamagouche Mountain, she was the daughter of the late Janie Harris (Wall) and Rob Harris. Lila was predeceased by her husband, Harry; step brother, Isaac Harris; son, Ross.
Lila leaves behind her children, Mary Keats (Doug) and their children, Nancy, James, Bayley and Abbey; son, David (Heather) and their children, Sara, Megan, Marley, Michelle and Alexander; daughter, Jean Snook (Stewart) and their children, Kelly and Riley; son, Earl (Diane) and their children, Derek and Ashley; son, Dale (April) and their children, Graeme and Harrison; daughter in law, Carmelita and her daughter, Lindsay as well as numerous great, great grandchildren.
Lila worked in her early years in PEI babysitting for a minister and his family, where she made some long-term friends. She then came back to Tatamagouche, where she worked as a telephone switch board operator in the early 50’s, for a number of years. Then in 1957, she married her love, Harry. She then stayed at home raising their children, along with Ikey, as he was always part of her family. Lila always made sure that nobody left her house hungry.
Lila loved playing bingo, going on bus trips to Casinos and Bingo Halls. She also enjoyed knitting, quilting, baking, talking to her friends on the phone and listening to the radio. She loved her furry friends and they knew that they meant the world to her. Lila lived on her own up until the past 7 years, where she needed assistance from the VON and Home Care – a special thanks to all who cared for her at home.
The family also would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Bush, who cared for Lila and gave her such special care as well as to the nurses of the LFMH, Willow Lodge and staff for the support over the last 11 months of her life.
A time of Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 3, from 1pm until the funeral service at 2pm both in Coulter’s Funeral Home Chapel, Tatamagouche with Pastor John Donkin officiating. Burial to follow in Tatamagouche Mountain Cemetery followed by a luncheon at her home.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Tatamagouche Mountain Cemetery would be appreciated.
