Obituary of Levi Wollmann
Levi Wollmann was born on September 25, 1962, in Portage La Prairie, Manitoba. On Wednesday, June 21, 2023, he went to be with Jesus peacefully, surrounded by his immediate family. He passed away from a serious respiratory infection complicated by Muscular Dystrophy.
Levi will be forever cherished by his beloved wife Jan and children Vanessa, Royden and Matthew (Chantel along with their children Elliot, Kate, Arlo and Brady) and his step-daughter Marla (Maury and daughters Aria, Jossalyn and Jorah) and step-son Justin. Levi is survived by eight brothers and two sisters. He is predeceased by his first wife Matilda and his father and mother Joseph and Margaret.
Levi grew up in the Colony and in 1985 he left because he wanted to start a new life, shortly after he married Matilda. Levi worked hard and developed skills and knowledge, despite his physical condition. He started work in carpentry and kept busy doing woodwork however he could.
Levi had a feisty personality and a strong-willed spirit, but his solid foundation in Christ got him through many life challenges. And it was important for him to share his faith, especially with his children by scripture reading, memorization, and prayer. He liked to give his two cents, but really it was his two dollars there wasn’t a shortage of advice or opinions.
Dad loved to be outdoors, hunting & fishing, growing grapes and making wine and drinking warm beer. He loved to cook (the best gaesthal soup maker ever – also known as the “special soup” by the grandkids).
After Matilda passed away, Levi remarried in 2014 to Jan. He loved to spend time with his family and enjoyed zooming around on his scooter giving rides to his grandchildren and visiting people he loved.
A public viewing will be held on Sunday, June 25, 2023 at 7:00 p.m. with devotional to follow at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, Steinbach, MB.
Funeral service will be held on Monday, June 26, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. at Southland Church, Steinbach, MB, with burial to follow at Heritage Cemetery on Loewen Blvd. To join the family via livestream, please click HERE shortly before the start of the service.
