Katie passed away September 7, 2024 peacefully surrounded by family.
Leokadia (Katie) Geimer was the daughter of Sigismud and Helene Luck (Rupple), she was one of nine children. Born July 1932 Karolinow, Poland. She immigrated to Canada in 1954.
She met Robert in late 1954, and they were married on February 25, 1956 by Pastor Wetzstein at Bethel Lutheran Church. In April 1956 they moved to Ridgeway, Ontario where she started a business in retail, before returning to Kitchener in 1988.
She leaves to mourn her son Ralph Geimer (Catherine), Granddaughter Mallarie Elliot (Matt) and Great-Grandsons Myles and Marcus Elliott. Will be missed by her Sisters Della Kunkel and Wally Schoon. Katie also loved her 4-legged Grandchildren, Opie and Billy.
Katie will be remembered by many nieces, nephews, and friends in both Canada and Germany.
Katie was predeceased by Husband, and Best Friend of 57 years Robert Geimer. She is also predeceased by an infant Daughter Maria, and Son John; Parents Sigmund and Helene Luck, Stepmother Natalie Luck (Klingbeil), her twin Sister Marie, Sister Wanda, and Brothers Leo, Edward, Artur, Victor Luck.
Katie was a founding member of the Ridgeway Ontario Lioness Club. She was also a member of Bethel Lutheran Church, and a member of the Schwaben Club- where she was a treasurer for 15 years.
Katie and Robert loved to have family and friends over for dinner. Katie loved her garden, and loved flowers. Katie and Robert had fun dancing at the clubs, and enjoyed life together. She also enjoyed watching TV, especially hockey and baseball games.
We would like to thank Rose Travers and the staff at Doon Village Retirement home.
The family encourages those wishing to remember Katie, to consider a donation to the Bethel Lutheran Church, or to St. Mary’s Hospital or Grand River Hospital Foundation.
Arrangements entrusted to the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 519-749-8467. A private family graveside service has taken place. A celebration of life will take place at a later date.
