February 15, 1993 – June 14, 2024
With broken hearts we announce the sudden passing of our beloved son Leighton Addison Cressman. Leighton died peacefully in his sleep. His loss leaves a profound void in our lives.
Leighton’s gentle spirit, big smile and positive attitude will be remembered by all. Leighton had a love for reading especially science fiction and enjoyed listening to Bible readings as well as the monthly broadcasts and watching videos on JW.org. Some of his most treasured memories were made on family trips to Florida and Disneyworld as well as 2 bus tours the family took to the World Headquarters of Jehovah’s Witnesses in New York State (including the Bible museums). Leighton loved to cook and treat family and friends to his amazing meals. Even during the Covid pandemic he ran a Zoom cooking show: “Cooking with the Cressman’s”.
Leighton touched the lives of all he met with his genuine warmth, compassion and positivity. He had a tremendous care and concern for people. He loved to talk with everyone, and hosted many beautiful nights by the bonfire with good friends and new friends.
Leighton’s life was marked by his unending dedication to his God Jehovah, even as he overcame many challenges caused by his Tourette’s Syndrome, OCD, and Sensory Dysfunction. He had unwavering hope in a better life to come in the coming paradise on earth where he would have perfect health. He trusted in the words of Revelation 21:4, “He will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.” And 1 Corinthians 15:26, “And the last enemy, death, is to be bought to nothing.”
Leighton is survived by his parents: Tom and Helen Cressman; his Uncle Willy; his Aunt Pamela and numerous cousins.
A Memorial Service will be held on June 29, 2024 at 2 pm at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 1034 Oliver Road, Thunder Bay.
