Dennis Laycock passed away peacefully at the Owen Sound Hospital on Saturday, February 17, 2024 at the age of 78.
Born in Meaford on February 3, 1946, he was a son of the late Leslie and Louise (nee Rows) Laycock.
Dennis was predeceased by his brother Mervin Laycock in 1955.
One of the things that Dennis enjoyed most and will be remembered for was his time spent fishing. He was fortunate enough to have a job for many years doing something that he loved, working for John Perks on the commercial fishing boats. He also enjoyed sport fishing and once held the record for #1 Whitefish in the world. Dennis was kind and generous with his fish and often shared with friends and those he knew would appreciate and enjoy his catch of the day. He was a caregiver for his mother at home and was extremely compassionate and patient with her, she passed in 2021 in her 99th year. He recently lost his dog ‘Benny’, who he absolutely adored. Dennis was lucky enough to win the Hospital Lottery many years ago and often supported charities any way he could. He was a good friend, and will be missed by many along the shoreline of Georgian Bay.
A private interment will take place at Lakeview Cemetery.
