Lawrence Eric «Larry» Marsters
1942-2024
Lawrence Eric
«Larry» Marsters, our cherished husband, father, uncle and
friend, left us peacefully on September 9, 2024. Born in Kentville on
March 12, 1942, Larry’s life was defined by his warmth,
humor, and unwavering compassion and service towards
others.
Larry is survived by
his beloved wife, Margaret (Diane) Trask (www.whitefamilyfuneralhome.com/obituaries/181039);
devoted daughters, Kerri (Jeff) and Amy; as well as his much loved
cousins, Donnie (Myrtle), Barbara, Terri (Dave), and numerous in-laws,
cousins, nieces, and nephews. His presence left an indelible mark on
the lives of all who knew him. He was predeceased by his treasured
mother, Leta, Aunt Clara and Uncle Gus. Though his departure leaves an
immense void, his family finds strength in the cherished memories of
the boundless laughter and love he shared with them.
For nearly 30 years,
Larry served as the administrator of Mountain Lea Lodge in Bridgetown,
a role that brought him immense pride and joy. His kindness touched
the lives of countless residents, their families, and the dedicated
staff, all of whom he regarded as extended family. Larry brought not
only dignity, empathy and care to the residents but also a generous
sense of humor, and yes, the occasional prank! He found joy in
enriching their lives through projects like the creation of the
courtyard gardens with a fishpond, acquiring his bus
driver’s license to take residents on the «Bumble Bee
from Mountain Lea», and simply making each day brighter. Known
for his colorful tie collection, Larry’s presence never
failed to lift spirits, and his friendships were formed wherever he
went, thanks to his unfailing positivity, patience, and calm
demeanor.
In retirement, Larry
found joy in gardening and bird watching, alongside his faithful dog,
Duchess, and cats, Fala and Fred. He remained deeply involved in his
community through the Lions Club (Berwick, Bridgetown, and Port
Williams), Valley Gardeners Club and Mid-Valley Palliative Care. He
enjoyed curling, lawn bowling, badminton, baking, stamp collecting and
his various artistic endeavors, including paper tole, paper quilling,
and Pysanky Eggs. He also loved traveling, enjoying new experiences
and making lasting memories from his adventures.
In recent years after
moving to Orchard Court in Kentville, Larry returned to work,
immersing himself in recreation programming, holiday decorating, and
tending his gardens. True to his nature, he was always ready to assist
others in need. He loved the music, the dancing, and was known for
always having treats on hand for visiting pups. Larry cherished his
community and was grateful to spend his golden years actively engaged
in the activities he had loved throughout his life.
As per
Larry’s wishes, cremation has taken place. For all who wish
to help us celebrate Larry, please join us on October 3rd from 2-3
p.m. for a tea party and partake in a game of BINGO in his honour at
Shannex Orchard Court, Kentville. Donations in his memory may
be made to the Nova Scotia Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to
Animals (SPCA) or a charity of your choice. Arrangements have been
entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services,
Kentville.

don’t go away; they walk beside us every
day, unseen,
unheard, but always near, still
loved, still missed, and very dear.»
