Passed away peacefully with Douglas and Steve by his side on Saturday, January 27, 2024 at Barnswallow Place, Elmira at the age of 88 years. Reunited with his wife Laura (2017). Beloved father of Dennis of London, Julie (2022) and Wilfred Doll of Elmira, Douglas of Elmira, Steve and Yvette of Wallenstein (on the family farm), Rosanne and Tim Amos of St. Jacobs, Betty Ann and Keith Hunt of Waterloo. Lovingly remembered by his grandchildren Jennifer (Anthony); Angela and Carrie; Jenny (Mike) and Jessica (Eric); Christopher (Amanda) and Jordan (Madeline); Taylor (Griffin) and Macey; and by his great-grandchildren Tru and Ruby; Alina and Colton; and Aritizia.
Laverne will be missed by Betsy Ho, Peter Moore, the Smydo family, and by Laura’s family. Cherished brother of Alice (Bernie), Dave (Sandy), Mary, Marj, Joanne and Sharon (Mike) and sisters-in-law Shirley, Patsy, Janet and Barb. Laverne will be missed by his many nieces, nephews and their families.
Predeceased by his parents Charles and Leona Logel, siblings George, Rose Marie (Al), Clare, Jim (Genevieve), Tom, Dan and brother-in-law Larry.
Laverne enjoyed driving truck full time while being a dedicated Charolais Beef farmer. He enjoyed spending time with his family, friends and neighbours, sharing laughs and making memories while playing many games. His absolute favourite was Solo.
Visitation will take place on Wednesday, January 31, 2024 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Dreisinger Funeral Home, 62 Arthur St. S., Elmira. A mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, February 1, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Teresa of Avila RC Church, 19 Flamingo Drive, Elmira. A spring interment will take place in St. Joseph’s RC Cemetery, Macton.
Donations to St. Joseph’s Church Fund, Macton or Daily TV Mass (The National Catholic Broadcasting Council) would be appreciated and may be made though the funeral home.
A special thank you to the Staff at Barnswallow Place for their support and care during Laverne’s final days.
