It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our loving husband, father, «Bubba», brother and uncle, Larry (Stephen) Latimer, 73 on Sunday December 10th, 2023.
Steve was born in Brockville on December 13th, 1949. He met his beloved wife, Donna at the movie theater he was working at and they were married on September 20th, 1969. Steve spent his working life as an OPP officer beginning his career in Napanee and moving to Sharbot Lake, Pickle Lake, Brockville, back to Pickle Lake and finally to Emo where he retired and settled down with his family in Burris. When he retired he continued to work as a youth justice worker with the United Native Friendship Centre as well as a Job Developer/ Placement Officer at NCDS. He had a strong work ethic and desire to serve his community.
The most important thing to Steve was his family. He could always be found at the rink watching his beloved granddaughters figure skate and often traveling with them to various competitions and music festivals to cheer them on. He was always there for his family. Steve had many passions in life, one of which was woodcarving. He was a talented carver and often traveled for various courses to improve his skills. His creations are cherished by his family members. On Sundays, Steve loved to spend the days watching football with his son and playing many hands of crib. He remains undefeated. Steve also loved collecting stamps and spent many hours in his «back room» meticulously placing them. His collection is impressive. He also loved spending time hunting and always looked forward to his yearly hunting trip with his son. One of Steve’s favorite things to do was spending summer days outside with family barbecuing wings and playing lawn games. He always said he loved seeing the bright green trees against a clear blue sky on a summer day.
He leaves to mourn his loving wife, Donna, son Sean (Claudia), granddaughters Taylor (Tim) and Kennedy (Marc), brother Mike (Kwai), and nephews Corbin (Krista) and Jacob.
Afterglow
By: Helen Lowrie
I’d like the memory of me to be a happy one.
I’d like to leave an afterglow of smiles when life is done.
I’d like to leave an echo whispering softly down the ways,
Of happy times and laughing times and bright and sunny days.
I’d like the tears of those who grieve, to dry before the sun;
Of happy memories that I leave when life is done.
