Obituary
It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Larry Ciglen May 15th, 1942- January 7th, 2023. Larry will be deeply missed by his wife of 56 years Leslie Ann Ciglen (Holloway) his two sons Davin and Steven, his loving daughter in law Brenda and his two granddaughters Maddy and Jayla.
Larry will be best remembered for his willingness to always lend a helping hand, he enjoyed teaching people about computers and all things techy. Larry’s unconditional love for his family was his greatest mark he always put the family ahead of himself to make sure they were happy. Larry and Leslie moved to the north 20 years ago leaving behind their first house in Georgetown for a new adventure. They quickly adapted to life in the north and became contributing members of the community. Larry sat on several boards while here, the Library board, planning board and was instrumental in helping get the seniors hall funding in Trout Creek.
Larry and Leslie both loved to travel and see the world, in doing so in the early years they would often plan family trips giving everyone the chance to see places that may have never happened otherwise. These family trips whether camping, cruising, or going to Disney World as a destination will always be part of us. Larry always ensured the trip was well planned and organized before we even packed, one of his true strengths.
Those that knew Larry would all agree that he loved the property and riding in his tractor, whether it was plowing snow, fixing the road or helping his sons move things it was his happy place. He would often get in his side by side and go down to watch Steve work in the pit and always offer a hand to him if was a drive back to the house or to another machine, he was always there to help. We would be remiss if we did not mention his cat Zoe. Zoe came into dad’s life in May and they have been best friends since that day.
Larry always had a thirst for knowledge and continually learned things to help his family and friends with things they were not able to do. While living in Georgetown he set up a resume writing business for people that were out of work. It was his way of giving back to people that could not afford the high cost of having a resume done by only charging a minimal amount to do it. Many of these people got back on their feet and never forgot the good deed Larry did.
Over the years Larry gave back to his communities in various ways, he was a life time member of the Optimist Club, Ducks Unlimited committee member, hockey coach. Over the last several days we continue to realize the positive impact Larry had on so many people, he touched more people than we ever knew in such a positive way.
Larry will be sadly missed by all his family and his friends. In our loss Heaven gained another angel. As per Larry’s Wishes, cremation has taken place. There will not be a service. If desired, donations to a charity of choice would be gratefully acknowledged by his family. Online condolences can be made at www.mcguintyfuneralhome.com
