Kristine Heeres (Budding) of Glen Morris passed away on Thursday, January 11, 2024, at the age of 36. Devoted wife of Joel Heeres. Loving mother of Charley, Rosie, and Joe Heeres all at home. Cherished daughter of Albert & Susan Budding of Glen Morris. Special sister of Grant & Sara Budding, Nicole & Jake Boland, and Michelle & Cody Goodlet. Dear daughter-in-law of Ray & Brenda Heeres of Listowel. Sister-in-law of Erica Heeres, Robyn Heeres, and Natanya & Zac Wombwell.
Kristy showed love every day to the people around her. She did what she could, when she could with what she had that day. This started with her family where she as a mother poured herself into her children with praise, support, and emotional nourishment. Over the years she has written hundreds of index cards for the kids to uplift them and guide them in their path. She was our loudest cheerleader. As my wife and partner for 22 years, she was unfailing, always passionate, and always had the right thing to say to me. She brought magic and joy to our family and taught each of us how to love deeply with kindness and compassion.
Kristy was strong in her faith. It was her indomitable spirit that carried her body this far despite her chronic illness and physical struggles. She publicly proclaimed her refreshed fervor for her faith this Christmas when she was baptized, reaffirming her desire to live in God’s way. Her compassion extended to strangers and to the broken-hearted. She was a mental health nurse at Woodstock Hospital and helped others struggling with suicide, addictions, depression, and other mental health conditions. Due to difficulties with her physical health, she wasn’t able to continue practicing but her passion was infectious and she mentored and taught me how to care for others when I followed her path, recently taking up a career in mental health nursing. She had compassion for the hurting and always knew the right words, at the right time. She was also kind and generous; regularly inviting homeless people into a restaurant for lunch with her, giving her time, money, and support to anyone she saw in need. Life with Kristy was a roller coaster and we rode together in the front seat with our hands in the air. She made everyone around her better and each day she took what she was given and gave it back to others in the love that gushed out of her.
Her faith was bigger than her fears. Her spirit lives on, but we will be separated for a season. She taught me that the struggle is part of the story. I invite those who knew her to come to share in her story, to celebrate her life and surround ourselves with the comfort that we have in her eternal salvation. Visitation will be held at Forward Church in Cambridge (55 Franklin Blvd.) on Friday, January 19th from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held at the church on Saturday, January 20th at 11:00 a.m. Refreshments to follow.
