Kimberly Marie DeBon – March 15, 1968 – May 2, 2024
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Kimberly DeBon after a courageous battle. Cherished wife of Luciano (Lou) Zeppieri, loving mother of Olivia Zeppieri, beloved
daughter of Gayle DeBon and predeceased by her father Leo DeBon. She is also survived by her sisters Lori (Brad) Morgan, Debbie (Brian) Gilmour and Deanna (Frank) Robertson, mother-in-law Florinda Zeppieri, predeceased by her father-in-law Lino Zeppieri, sister-in-law to Enzo (Connie) Zeppieri and Jerry (Rosanne) Zeppieri, stepdaughter Cassandra (Sean) Hansen.
She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.
Kim was born in Timmins Ontario but also lived in South Porcupine and Oshawa, finally settling in Virgil when her father Leo who was an OPP officer was transferred there in 1975. She attended Virgil Public School and Niagara District Secondary School where she excelled academically and athletically. After high school she attended Trent University in Peterborough in a concurrent BA/B.ED program that she completed at Queen’s University in Kingston. She further completed her Masters in English from University of Toronto and embarked on her teaching career for the next 31 years. Kim taught for one year in the North York District School Board and then moved to the private school sector. She taught at Ridley College in St. Catharines, CCI in Italy, the Waldorf School of Burlington and Adult Learners at the City of Burlington. As a passionate educator, Kim touched the lives of so many students and fellow teachers through her commitment to nurturing young minds. Her dedication to education extended beyond the classroom as she shared her knowledge and insights as a writer contributing editorials to the Toronto Globe and Mail that reflected her intellect and empathy. Her writing extended to short stories, poems and most recently movie screenplays.
Her greatest love and accomplishment is her daughter Olivia Eden, born in December 2009. Kim experienced great joy hearing Olivia play the piano, excel academically and watching her play volleyball. The family enjoyed travel including several trips to New York City, Italy for a year, Frankenmuth and Paris. Kim’s legacy of love, kindness, love of life, sense of humour and intellectual curiosity will forever be cherished by her family, friends and all who had the privilege of knowing her. Kim, you will be dearly missed and never forgotten.
The family would like to thank the dedicated staff at Joseph Brant Hospital in Burlington on 7 South and 5 North where she received such compassionate care. In keeping with Kim`s wishes, cremation has taken place. A private family gathering to celebrate Kim`s life will be held at Morgan Funeral Home in Niagara on the Lake on Wednesday, May 8th. In lieu of flowers or donations Kim had requested that memories, photos and condolences be shared at www.morganfuneral.com.
