James Kent Schuppert
(1932 – 2024)
It is with deep sadness the family wishes to announce the passing of James “Kent” Schuppert of Tillsonburg on Wednesday December 18, 2024 at the London Health Sciences Centre in his 93rd year. Loving and caring husband to the late Audrey (2022). Father to his 2 sons Eric Schuppert and Andrew Schuppert and his wife Janel. Brother to Herb (the late Florence). Uncle to several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his father Philip, mother Josephine (nee Cook), sister Marion King (1989). Kent was always eager to learn new things. He loved to read mystery novels and work related books. He was always willing to accept a challenge and sought and tried to be truthful in business. He worked for his father’s small town business, odd jobs as well as driving trucks and hauling gasoline products to farmers and sub-dealers. He drove new cars from Winnipeg, MB to Gretna for his father’s business. Work turned into adventure when he climbed mountains in the Yukon for government Geological Survey Department using helicopters to do triangulations to map the wilderness. Kent’s career went well over 33 years as an Associate Engineer, Manager of Marketing Development and Technical Staff with Northern Electric. He was an active member of the Building Committee for the construction of the new Mt. Elgin United Church. He served as a member of the Selection Committee for a new minister and was congregational chairperson for Mt. Elgin United Church, volunteered and was interim chairperson for the Official Board, President of the Board of Directors for the Tillsonburg Senior Centre, tutored students in adult literacy, tried golfing (thank you to Jack Wooldridge), played as a spare for the Hickory Hills carpet bowlers and was a member of the Hickory Hills Residents Association. Kent enjoyed spending time coaching his sons in minor hockey and soccer, curled and convened shuffleboard. Cremation has taken place and a private family service will take place at the Tillsonburg Cemetery. Memorial donations in Kent’s memory may be made to Purrfect Companions Animal Rescue, Delhi. Donations may be made online or by contacting Ostrander’s Funeral Home, (519-842-5221) who has been entrusted with the care of the Schuppert family.
