KEN ROLPH
Kenneth Rolph passed peacefully on August 5th in his 92nd year surrounded by his eight children. He will join his first love, Helen, who predeceased him in 2008.
Ken is survived by his children, Valerie (Dave) Chessell, Dennis (Annie) Rolph, Greg (Nancy) Rolph, Perry (Joyce) Rolph, Wendy (Murray) Feltz, Julie (Brian) Eickmeyer, Darlene (Ted) Koot and Jamie (Lisa) Rolph. He felt truly blessed to have 25 grandchildren and 45 great grandchildren. Ken is survived by his brother Barry Rolph (Doris), and sisters-in-law Audrey O’Rourke, Dorothy Rose, and Norma Rolph. Special friend of Marjorie Coleman and her family.
Predeceased by his parents Adolphus «Dib» and Beatrice Rolph, father-in-law and mother-in-law Jack and Gladys Kemp, brother Don (Shirley), Clare (Joan) and Darrell (Jane / Joan), in-laws Roy «Mick» Kemp, Irene Uniac (Bob), Donna Rose (Laverne), Earl Rose, Fred Malone, Len O’Rourke and Lloyd Kemp.
Ken farmed all his life with his brother Don until his retirement in 1994 when he moved to Mitchell where he and Helen then had a rural mail route for many years. He was very proud when his youngest son took over the farm when they moved into Mitchell. He was an independent, active man who cut his own grass up until the week before his passing. He loved lawn bowling and curling and put in many happy hours looking after the lawn bowling club. Ken was a sharp card player and thoroughly enjoyed a good game of pepper.
Ken had a beautiful smile and a gentle and friendly manner that everyone who knew him felt. He will always be a role model for his family with his strong work ethic, faith, and ability to adapt to whatever he faced with grace and a sense of humour. He was very proud of his children and their families and followed their lives and activities closely. He spent many hours watching hockey, baseball, ringette, dance recitals, graduations, weddings and attending family celebrations. He took part and contributed to several community committees over the years, showing his family by example how meaningful and important it is to volunteer and be an active member of the community where so many of us grew up and live.
The family would like to thank Dr. Victor, Bill Appleby and staff of IDA, and nurse Dorie for their exceptional care. Memorial donations to the Kidney Foundation of Ontario, West Perth Village or charity of your choice would be appreciated and may be made at LockhartFuneralHome.com.
