Obituary
Kenneth Sheppard passed peacefully away on April 21, 2023 at the Dr. Hugh Twomey Health Center, Botwood. He was 77 years of age. He was predeceased by his parents Fred and Janet Sheppard; daughter Norma Sheppard Abbott; parents-in-law Norman and Jessie Hibbs; brothers William, Ernest, Herb, Albert Sheppard, sisters Julie Pope and Annie Young.
Ken Sheppard, a lifelong member of Peterview who started his career as a Teacher in 1963 in Peterview. Following his two years in Peterview Ken moved to the Northwest Territories for 8 years. Ken accepted a teaching job at the R.W. Abbott Academy in Peterview where he became a Vice Principal for 10 years. In 1987 Ken and Pansy entered the Salvation Army Training College in St. John’s and in 1989 Ken and Pansy were commissioned as Salvation Army Officers. Ken’s years as a Salvation Army Office extended from Garnish, NL to the children village in Calgary, Alberta, to the Booth Center in Winnipeg. Ken was involved with the Alliance/Pentecostal Churches before retiring in 2016. Ken was a member of the Peterview Salvation Army and will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him, especially by his wife Pansy and son Kenny Jr.
He leaves to mourn his wife Pansy Sheppard; son Ken Jr. Sheppard; brother Hedley (Isabel) Sheppard; grandchildren Stephanie, Elizabeth, Ken Jr. III, great grandchildren Link, Dante, Layne.
Donation’s in Ken’s memory can be made to the Salvation Army Citadel cemetery fund, Peterview.
Pallbearers will be Dan Taylor, Baxter Hibbs, Hedley Sheppard, Danielle Taylor, Kenny Jr. Sheppard, Eric Sansome.
