Ken fought a very hard and long battle with dementia and psychosis. Thank you to Dr. David Bak and Dr. Richard Safranyos, also Dr. Emily Wilson along with all the staff at both Linhaven in St. Catharines and Northland Pointe in Port Colborne.
Ken had a love and appreciation for a wide variety of music. He was a talented musician and singer. In his teen years the bands he played with entertained at various locations including High School dances. Ken played with various local bands across the Niagara region at various hotels, weddings etc… Also outside of Niagara including Hamilton and beyond and into the state of New York. Ken moved to Sudbury area in 1979 to work as an industrial electrician at various mines working above ground and below ground until his retirement in 2009. Ken also played at local establishments with bands from Sudbury- Valley East. At one point in time he was approached by a Canadian well known travelling band to join them because he was one of few musicians who was accomplished in playing the steel guitar but he declined. He continued playing electric guitar, bass guitar, etc.. at home. The family decided to move back to Welland in 2011 to be closer to immediate family once again. He resumed his love of playing his musical instruments until dementia robbed him of his knowledge of how to play. Ken also had a love of fishing, camping, campfires and yes at times he would play his flat top and sing around the camp fire while camping in the bush along Hwy #144 corridor up north.
