Kenneth «Ken» Leighton Obituary
Leighton, Kenneth “Ken”, of Trenton, passed away on December 21, 2023 with his family around him after winning his battle with pulmonary fibrosis at the age of 81. Ken was born August 7, 1942 in Toronto to loving parents Ken and Mary Leighton. He met his partner in life Linda and they were married in 1966 in Downsview. They moved to Carrying Place in 1972 and soon after Ken started his electrical contracting business. Ken was a well respected electrician who worked hard and took pride in his trade. Ken will be greatly missed by his wife of 57 years Linda (nee Prince), his children Kenny and Kim, his grandchildren Kieren, Callan, Ollie, and Sadie, and his great grandchildren Kendall and Haidyn. He is survived by his brother Bill Leighton & his wife Cindy, and his sister Sue Hunt & her husband Terry, and will be remembered affectionately by his brothers and sisters in law and his many nieces and nephews.
Ken was good to his family and friends. He was loyal, forgiving, and fair. He loved the outdoors, music, a good book, dogs, beer, and single malt scotch. He was a Belleville Bulls fan, a devoted Shelter Valley Folk Festival volunteer, a classic car enthusiast, and one of the founding members of MAS (the Music Appreciation Society). He was known for his kind and gentle way with people and for the twinkle in his eye.
The family would like to thank the many health care professionals who provided Ken with exceptional care including Dr. Moran Mendoza, Carlene Clapperton at Medigas, Gen MacDonald, NP at the Lakeview Family Health Team, Quinte Paramedics, the Trenton Hospital Emergency Department, and the Belleville Hospital Intensive Care Unit. Heartfelt thanks to the Amanda’s and Chelsea.
A Celebration of Ken’s life will be held at the Weaver Family Funeral Home -East, 29 Bay Street ,Trenton on Saturday, January 6, 2024 from 12-3pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests monetary donations be made to the Trenton Care & Share Food Bank would be appreciated.
