It is with profound sadness that the family of Kelly Clyde Himmelman, 82, of Rhodes Corner, announce his sudden passing on Saturday, June 15, 2024, at South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater with his family by his side.
Kelly was born August 27, 1941, at home on Bell’s Island, he was the son of the late Clyde and Hattie (Tumblin) Himmelman.
As a young child Kelly could be found at his father’s side in the boat fishing and hunting. He also had a love of cars, Sharon Himmelman and take-out food.
Kelly spent his entire working life on the water. He started inshore fishing with his father from the age of 4 until he had his own boat. When inshore fishing took a downturn, he made the decision to go offshore fishing. His offshore career included Long Lining, Sword Fishing and of course Scallop Fishing. The later years of his career were spent as chief engineer on scallop vessels.
In December of 1994 Kelly’s fishing career ended due to extensive injuries.
His retirement years were spent with his grandchildren and great grandchildren who meant the world to him. Cooking and woodworking were favorite hobbies. His chowder was a favorite by many. His faithful furry companions Rocky and Smucky were always by his side.
Kelly’s strength determination and stubbornness kept him going, along with the love of his family while battling many illnesses.
Nothing prepares you for the sudden loss of a loved one. Kelly will be missed dearly by all of his family and friends.
Kelly is survived by his wife, Sharon; son, Philip (Neil McKewan), Pentz; daughters, Donna (Clayton) Nauss, Sweetland, Michelle (Jim) Crann, Rhodes Corner, Erin (Michael) Gautreau, Sheffield Mills; grandchildren, Matthew (Shauna) Nauss, Christopher (Felisha) Nauss, Justin (Sasha) Creaser, Michaela (Samantha) Creaser, Dylan and Avery Gautreau as well as great-grandchildren, Chloe, Zander, Kaiden, Mardi, Elliana, Meredith and Charlie.
Besides his parents, Kelly was predeceased by a great-granddaughter, Aurora Creaser
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dana L Sweeny Funeral Home, 11213, Hwy 3, Lunenburg. A memorial service will be held on Friday, June 28, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. from Mount Olivet Lutheran Church, Upper LaHave. Pastor Svante Olson officiating. Interment will be at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations made to the family would be appreciated
