Suffering from dementia and congestive heart failure was not what Keith pictured for his final years. He
succumbed on July 26th with his beloved daughter Niki (Nicolle) by his side, who supported and cared
for both her father and his best friend and partner of 35 years, Dawn Carey, over these last few months.
Fascination and Curiosity were attributes that best describe Keith. This was evident in both his
professional and personal lives. “I just gots to know” he would say. He had a unique and unfiltered
genius. Coupled with his sense of humour, you never knew which direction this would take him, which
was part of his genius. He was way ahead of his time in his thinking and couldn’t quite understand why
others often had a hard time following him. His ability to tell stories was second to none. He was a
magnet for children and took great delight in watching them develop. He was a formidable man with a
vast and varied thirst for knowledge that left you wanting more. Some would say, Keith never had a
thought he didn’t express. All he asked in return was that you be intellectually honest with yourself.
Keith was just as happy tinkering at the cottage as he was studying the electrophysiology of the brain
with his international partners. He loved finding creative solutions to problems, be them scientific or
everyday household issues. He was an entrepreneur, inventor, CEO and a cherished father and partner.
Keith had an unbreakable bond with his son Clark and daughter Nicolle (Dan). He was predeceased by
his sister Eleanor (Barry Lamb). He is survived by his in-laws, Shaun Carey (Laura), Joe Carey (Miche)
Heather Wood (Scott) and many adored nieces and nephews, and granddaughters Amanda & Julie.
At Keith’s request there will be no funeral. The family’s hope is that he brings a smile to your face when
you think about him and to never being curious.
