It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Kathy (Kitty) Lounsbury (West) beloved wife, mother, sister, sister-in-law, auntie and friend on January 21, 2024, at the age of 78 years. She passed away peacefully with family by her side.
Kathy is survived by her devoted husband Jim of 60 years and cherished children Stephen (Doug), Deanna (Gord), and Tommy (Tara), grandchildren Miranda, Zachary and Sydney, step grandchildren Alora, Shyanne and Reiina, brother Bob, sister-in-law’s Shirley and Edna, and her nieces and nephews, especially Tammy and Cory. She was predeceased by her beloved son Jimmy, sisters’ Betty and Patricia and brothers’ Doug, Alan and Rick and sister-in-law’s Gill and Val.
Kathy was not just a mother but a pillar of love and strength, making lasting connections with everyone she met. She dedicated her life to her family, friends and community in Manitoba. A retired school bus driver of 29 years, she embraced her roles with passion, leaving a lasting mark on the Springfield community. Her infectious laughter and radiant smile illuminated the lives of those around her, creating an atmosphere of warmth and joy. Her years in Springfield were marked by active involvement in the community, and later, she graciously served as the welcoming committee at Paradise Village.
Despite her challenges with Alzheimer’s, Kathy’s spirit remained resilient. Her daughter, who provided unwavering care for the last seven years, was a testament to the profound bond they shared. Kathy’s legacy lives on through the memories of her kindness, love, and the countless lives she touched.
In honoring Kathy’s memory, let us celebrate the life of a woman who brought joy to others, leaving behind a legacy of love and community spirit. May she rest in peace, reunited with those who went before her, and may her family find solace in the beautiful memories they shared.
A heartfelt thank you to Dr Shenouda and all of Kathy’s caregivers who gave her that ‘extra’ attention and compassion, you hold a special place in our hearts for all you did.
In lieu of flowers if so desired, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba donations or a charity of your choice.
As per Kathy’s wishes, no formal service will take place but a come and go Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 11, 2024 from 1:00-3:00pm at Seasons Funeral Chapel 576 Balsam Crescent in Oakbank
