Kathryn May Madigan (née Flynn) passed away peacefully surrounded by love and family, on July 24, 2023, at the age of 90, in Hamilton, Ontario. She was born on April 23, 1933, in Copper Cliff, Ontario, to the late Carrie May Flynn and Bertram Flynn.
Kathryn is predeceased by her loving husband Paul in 1991. Loving mother to Maureen Kitson (David), and Brian Madigan (Anne). Loving Grammi to Alex Kitson (Katherine), Tim Kitson (Kirstin Campeau), and Amy Madigan. Loving GG/Great Grammi to Jacob, William, Harrison, and Easton.
Cherished sister-in-law to Frances Webber (Peter), Margaret Beauchamp, Carl Madigan (Peggy), Beatrice Fredette, and Marilyn Allen. Fondly remembered by niece Barb White (Al), and nephews Rod Barker (Marilou), Dennis Barker (Angele), and Ruth Armstrong. Kathy will be missed by nieces, nephews, and godchildren. She will also be missed by her Deerview Crossing friends and staff and Falconbridge community.
Kathryn was a vibrant and active member of her community. She believed in the value of being involved. Kathryn was proud of her Northern Ontario roots and hometown. She was very involved in local and provincial politics and volunteered her incredible energies to these causes. She became a valued and active member of the Falconbridge Legion Branch 336. She was so very proud of achieving her lifetime membership to the Legion in 2014. Kathryn was deeply involved in her church and found comfort and community at both Grace United in Sudbury and Highland Hills Faith Community in Dundas, Ontario.
Mom was involved in her new community, Deerview Crossing Retirement Home and her open and caring personality will be missed by the friends/staff.
The funeral and interment ceremonies for Kathryn will be held in the near future, and updates will be provided on the memorial website. In memory of Kathryn Madigan, contributions can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Heart and Lung Association.
May her soul rest in peace, and may her memory be a blessing to all those who knew and loved her. We rejoice in all the years we shared with Kathy, Kas, Kathryn will be always in our hearts as we think fondly of all the laughter she brought into our lives.
