With great sorrow our family announces Kathy’s passing at age 88. Best friend and blessed wife of James (Jim) just two weeks shy of 65 years. Devoted mother of Ruth (Rick Abernethy) and Scott (Cindy Taylor) and loving Grandma to Laura and Ryan McLauchlan. Pre-deceased by parents Clarence (“Dutch”) and Kay Scott, brother Donald (Bella), sister Ruth (Gib) Hillier, and treasured son John (widow Jann). Will be dearly missed by nieces, nephews and many friends.
Kathy was a fine athlete at Walkerville Collegiate and member of championship basketball, volleyball, swimming and track & field teams. She also served as a child swim instructor at Kennedy Collegiate. Following graduation, Kathy earned X-Ray Technician certification that translated to skilled care appreciated by physicians and patients alike. For several years, she positively contributed to the worldwide humanitarian projects of her I.O.D.E. Chapter. She was an avid curler at the Windsor Curling Club and later at the Windsor Curling Club’s Senior Association at Roseland G&CC. Kathy was a long-standing member and active women’s group helper at Lincoln Road United Church. Following its closure, she joined Roseland-Trinity United Church’s congregation. With husband Jim she enjoyed extensive travels together and enthusiastically attended over 200 Western Mustang football games.
Kathy was a remarkable selfless woman.
Our family is grateful for the incredible care she received from Dr. Peter Scarfone, Dr. Anthony Glanz and the Staff at St. Marys Memorial Hospital.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be greatly appreciated.
Visiting will take place on Wednesday August 2, 2023 from 7:00pm-9:00pm. Visiting will resume Thursday August 3, 2023 from 10:00am until time of service at 11:00am at Families First, 3260 Dougall Ave. South Windsor ON. 519-969-5841. Internment at Victoria Memorial Gardens.
