Kathryn Matilda Andruschak (nee) Patterson was born Jan 18, 1934, in Humboldt Sk. Passed away December 12 2023, a month shy of her 90th birthday.
She was predeceased by her mother 8 months after she was born, and by her father, Ernest A Patterson in 1965. Kaye and her older sister Dawn were raised in Vancouver by her amazing ‘Gramma Haight’. Who we all loved and admired.
She was called “Little Kaye” by extended family and began an amazing career as a professional dancer. She Performed in choruses at all the famous clubs up and down the west coast of BC, Washington, Vegas to the Yukon including The Famous “Cave” Supper Club in downtown Vancouver. There she chorus-lined for audiences of Louis Armstrong, Patti Page, Mitzi Gaynor to name a few! She had the pleasure of meeting Elvis while performing in Vegas and would tell us what a nice man he was!
She ended her dance career to start her next chapter…being mom to her five children Barry, Kevin, Lisa, Beth, and Scott. She was Nana to twelve grandchildren and Great Gramma to four.
As a single parent she worked at the iconic Woodwards in Downtown Vancouver to help support her five kids in school, sports, and made an exceptional home creating memorable family dinners, traditions, and trips to Disneyland and Hawaii.
Her example instilled in all of us that we can overcome any obstacle and do Anything and Everything as a Family Team.
Beyond her family one of her greatest joys was singing with the West Coast Harmony Chorus and eventually took her talent with dance to become the choreographer for this very large chorus.
Our mom will be greatly missed by her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, her sister Dawn Jackson, nieces and nephews and her life-long friend Doris.
In lieu of flowers please feel free to donate to The Covenant House or the Friend in Need Food Bank where she volunteered her time.
A Celebration of Mom’s life will be announced at a later time.
