Mrs. Kathleen Nielsen, age 55, passed away peacefully surrounded by family at TBRHSC on April 2, 2024. Kathy was born June 19, 1968, and raised in Thunder Bay. After completing her degree while raising three kids, she worked at Northwestern Veterinary Hospital, where her passion and love for animals shone through. Kathy loved reading, finding new recipes to share with her family, enjoying the natural scenery of her country home, and spoiling her grandson with all the homemade treats and cuddles he could handle. Kathy’s kindness and generosity will be missed by all who loved and adored her.
Kathy always put her family first, investing so much time in supporting her children with their passions, helping navigate the complexities of adulthood and what it means to be a parent and love your children above all. Kathy was compassionate and would always lend a hand or extend a loving embrace to those who needed it.
Kathy is survived by her husband Bo, children Ian (Sam), Nathan, and Erin (Dean), her grandson Oliver, sisters Pam, Louise (Keith), Beth (Peter), Mary (Paul), Glynnis, and her brother Robert. Kathy is also survived by many nieces and nephews that she adored. She is predeceased by her parents Ian and Ruth.
Funeral services will be held Friday, April 12, 2024 at 2:00pm at the South Neebing Community Centre. Donations in memory of Kathy made to the Canadian Cancer Society are appreciated.
