Kathy passed away peacefully after a courageous 7-year battle with cancer, surrounded by her family, just two days shy of her 80th birthday. Born in London, Ontario to Elizabeth and Doug Kennedy, she was the devoted older sister to Janet and late brother John. Kathy forged enduring friendships through her adventures as a dedicated French teacher, story teller, memory keeper, quilter, singer and pie maker. A loving mother to David (Alynn) and Stephen (Leanne) and adoring Nanny K to Maple, Noelle, Sam & Jake. Her presence and laughter will be forever missed by Jim (Jamie) Upper, a loyal husband of more than 50 years. The family would like to thank all the doctors for their compassion and expertise: Dr. Caldwell, Dr. Orit Freedman, Dr. Vickie Martin, Dr. Mark Niglas, Dr. Sunit Das, Dr. Kent Tisher and Dr. Francesco Mulé. Cremation with visitation at MacCoubrey Funeral Home, 30 King St. E. in Cobourg on Tuesday, April 9th from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A memorial service will be held at St. Peter’s Anglican Church, corner of College St. and King St. E in Cobourg on Wednesday, April 10th, at 11 am with reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to St. Peter’s Anglican Church or to Ed’s House Northumberland Hospice.
