DURR, Katharina – (1930-2022) With sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Katie, at Queenston Place, Niagara Falls, surrounded by the love of her family on Friday, December 30, 2022. Beloved wife of the late Henry for 67 years. Loving mother of Katharina Rothenburger (Gerd), Harry Durr and Elisabeth Coney (David). Proud Oma of Ricky Jenkner (Karo), Sonja Junghanss (Max), Avrie Coney (Kane) and Derek Coney. Uhr Oma of Joshua and Marla Junghanss. Fondly remembered by dear family friend Donna Byl and her devoted Respite Companion Lucille Robertson. Katharina was born in Majos, Hungary, relocated and reunited with Henry to post-war Germany and immigrated to Niagara Falls, where Katie and Henry built their life and raised their three children. Katie was a long-time member and custodian at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. Whether she was working on the farm picking fruit, gardening, canning, cooking for many at the German Village, caring for a great deal of children in her home day care, or creating stunning needlework and paintings, she lived a long life with love, gratitude, grace and ease. She worked hard and never complained. Her family was her joy, and she was an artist of life. The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to the Alzheimer Society, Dr. Hill and the staff at Queenston Place for their exceptional care and support. Your love made all the difference.
Friends are invited to join the family at MORSE & SON FUNERAL HOME, 5917 Main Street, Niagara Falls, on Friday, January 6, 2023 from 1-3 p.m. Service to follow immediately in the chapel.
