1946-2024
Karin Dale (Fraser) MacKenzie-Phillips of South Berwick,
formerly of Point Edward, Cape Breton, passed away on Saturday,
September 28, 2024 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville,
following a brief illness. Born in Sydney, Karin was the eldest child
of Shirley (Rudderham) Fraser and the late Warren Fraser of Point
Edward.
Karin was employed at the Children’s Aid Society
for many years before entering St. Rita’s School of Nursing,
graduating in 1984. The remainder of her working career was spent at
the Northside Mental Health Clinic. In 2020, she decided to retire to
the Annapolis Valley where she enjoyed making new friends and
memories.
Karin was predeceased by her father, Warren Fraser; infant
sister, Wendy; her former husband, Grant MacKenzie, and her husband,
John Phillips. She is survived by her mother, Shirley Fraser, of
Northside Community Guest Home in North Sydney; son, Warren MacKenzie;
granddaughter, Kendall MacKenzie (Ray Mahava); and great
granddaughter, Quinn Mahava, all of Alberta. Karin is also survived by
her brother, William «Bill» Fraser (Linda Hardy) of Deer
Lake, NL; her sister, Dawn Michele (Francis) Moore; niece, Michelle
Moore (Matthew Kempton), and grandnephew, Dean Kempton, all of
Dartmouth.
Cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation, by
request. The funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday,
October 5, 2024 in the Waterville Baptist Church. Interment will take
place in Cape Breton at a later date. Donations in memory may be made
to the Canadian Cancer Society. Arrangements have been entrusted to
the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
