With heavy hearts the family announces the passing of June Missal on February 8, 2024 at the age of 95 years.
She was predeceased by her husband Ern; parents, Carl and Esther Talbott; brothers: Chet, Pat, Ross, Raymond (in infancy); sisters: Doris, Fay, Jean (in infancy); and daughter-in-law Joyce Missal.
June is survived by her children: Bill (Adele) Missal Bob (Ellen) Missal, Tim Missal, Susan (Glen) Moon, Greg (Stella) Missal; grandchildren: Tami (Mark), Mark (Laura), Michael (Krista). Amy (Connnor), Emily (Anthony), Shawna (Dean), Alison (Jeff), Amanda (Marshall), Graham, Simon, Victoria; great grandchildren: Kylie, Kaden, Nate, Nash, Mack, Jack, Leo, Boston, Rayna, Sloane, Hudson, Lachlan, Tenley, Embry, Bryson, Jemma; sister Carol; sisters-in-law, Lornie, Joan; her nephew, Wayne Baldock, who resided with June and Ern for several years; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
June Esther Talbott was born May 12, 1928 at the family farm located west of Lang. She was born the second youngest of 8 children born to Carl and Esther and attended school in Lang until grade 8. At the age of 13, her mother Esther passed away and June quit school to look after her youngest brother.
As a young farm girl, June and her sister, Fay became regular visitors to the Missal farm, which was one mile to the south. It wasn’t long before June married Ern Missal in 1947 and they began their life together on a farm near Lewvan working for the Art Knouse family.
While living at Lewvan, June and Ern welcomed four children to the family while making plans to locate to the Missal farm south of Lang in 1963. While building their mixed farm they continued to grow the family with a fifth child. They continued farming until Ern’s untimely passing in 1983. June continued to live and be actively involved in the family farm until 2015 when she relocated to Carrington Court in Milestone at the age of 87 where she stayed until 2020. Hill Top Manor in Weyburn became hew new home where she stayed until her passing.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at Hill Top Manor, where June would regularly praise the staff while she enjoyed her many hours of puzzling. June loved her friends and family alike and was actively involved with many organizations including the Lutheran Ladies Aid, the Lang Ladies Bunco Club and participated faithfully in community events and fundraisers. Her practical nature fuelled her love for gardening, baking and cooking. As many know, her specialty item was homemade buns, which were known far and wide. Her love of games had no limit with all family members being challenged to games of cards, yahtzee and tile rummy, as well as many completed books of crosswords.
However, June’s true passion in life was her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She never missed a chance to babysit her grandchildren, even at a moment notice. There were many times she would be watching 3-4 grandchildren while having the meals cooked and looking after the daily needs of the farm. In later years she maintained her interest by regularly phoning everyone to find out the sports scores or finding out how school was that day. Without fail, no one missed a birthday call from her. Everyone in the family truly felt her love. She will forever be remembered for her patience, courage and never-ending love for us all.
