It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of June Bushell on October 29th, 2023, at the age of 96. Born on May 14th, 1927, to William and Gladys May Bushell, June’s life was one marked by achievement, compassion, and unyielding love for her family.
June carved out a remarkable career as a senior partner at Chappell, Bushell, Stewart LLP, now Chappell Partners LLP. Her dedication to her profession and the impact she made in her field will be long remembered by her colleagues and those she mentored along the way, specifically the June Bushell Award which, in conjunction with the Women’s Law Association of Ontario, annually awards a woman who has overcome adversity to excel in her career as a lawyer.
June was predeceased by her parents, William and Gladys May Bushell, and her sister, Beverly (Bob) Bateman. Her legacy and spirit will be cherished and kept alive through her loving family: nephews Bill, Jamie, and Jeff Bateman; grand nephews Ian and David; grand nieces Beverley and Ali; great grand nephews Will, Spencer, and Robert; and great grand nieces Riley and Avery.
June’s life was a testament to her strength, intelligence, and compassion. She was a pillar in her community, a trusted advisor, and a beloved family member. Her wisdom, wit, and warmth brought light into the lives of all who knew her. June’s passion for life, her unshakable integrity, and her enduring kindness will be profoundly missed.
A Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel of the Morley Bedford Funeral Home, 159 Eglinton Ave. W. (2 stoplights west of Yonge St.) on Friday, November 3rd at 10:00 a.m., followed by interment at Prospect Cemetery. Her family kindly asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to The Toronto Humane Society.
