It is with great sadness that we announce that June Agnes Dahl (nee MacDonald) passed away, just short of her 93rd birthday, on September 17th in Renfrew Victoria Hospital, after a brief illness.
June was born on October 2, 1930 in Ottawa, ON to parents Evelyn and Malcolm MacDonald She was raised in Black Donald until moving to Renfrew with her family, where she would go on to spend the rest of her life.
June met and married Ken Dahl in 1953 and the two began a long entrepreneurial life opening Dahl’s Coin Laundry and Convenience in 1963 and Dahl’s Horn of Plenty in 1974. Dahl’s Coin Laundry and Convenience would go on to be a community landmark, still in business today 60 years later.
June is survived by three children Gary (Dawn) MacDonald, Eyvind (Lou) Dahl and Sandra (Ed) Wales. She will be greatly missed by grandchildren Jacob (Melanie), Douglas, Michael (Emily), Kauri (Joe) and Erica and great-grandchildren Max and Maya.
June was predeceased in death by her parents Evelyn and Malcolm MacDonald, husband, Ken Dahl and grandson, Jason MacDonald.
At the request of the deceased there will not be a service. Cremation will take place at Zohr Family Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations to Hospice Renfrew would be greatly appreciated. Tributes, condolences and donations may be made online at www.zohrfuneralhome.com
