Gratefully and with sadness we announce the passing of June Adelaide (Allen) Rothwell who died peacefully at home in Orangeville, Ontario on June 10, 2023. June was born June 28, 1924 in Barrie, Ontario the eldest of four children. June is survived by her sister Bette of Calgary, Alberta and is predeceased by her brothers Billy (1938) and Doug (1997). She married Ted (1920-1996) on July 10, 1946 and together they had four children. Bill, his wife Brenda of London, Ontario; Susan, her husband Terry of Delray Beach, Florida; Doug, his wife Karen of Es, Ontario and Judie her husband Bruce of Orangeville, Ontario. She also leaves behind her grandchildren Jennifer, Kim (Matt), Kevin (Michelle), Matt (Stephanie), Jeff (Cheryl), Mollie (Eric) and Douglas; her great grandchildren Adam (Alissa), Stephanie, Coleson, Miller, Lily, Madison, Charlie, Collin, Walker and great great grandchild Elizabeth.
June is also predeceased by her beloved daughter-in-law Wendy.
She will be greatly missed by her many nieces, nephews and friends. She will also be missed by the many students she taught to play the organ.
June was actively involved with both the Orangeville Hospital Auxiliary serving as President from 1976-1977 and then as Chairman of Region 3 for the Ontario Hospital Auxiliary from 1982-1983. She also served as a Hospital Board Representative in Orangeville from 1981-1983. She “retired” from her auxiliary duties in 1995.
The family would like to thank Pastor Andrew and the congregation of the Orangeville Christian Reform Church for being so welcoming to June. We would also like to thank the nurses from Bayshore Home Care Solutions, especially Mervia, who provided the family with wonderful palliative care and support.
A private family service will be held at Barrie Union Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a donation to a charity of your choice may be made.
