Judy Swanson (nee Kehoe), wife of Dwight Swanson of Airdrie, AB, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family and friends on Friday, September 15, 2023, at the age of 68 years.
Judy was born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan on September 5, 1955, but grew up in Winnipeg. She married Dwight in 1974, and together they embarked on a journey that brought them from Winnipeg to Calgary in 1978, and finally settling in Airdrie in January 1980. Her resilience was remarkable, as she completed the move with two young boys under the age of four with another one on the way.
Judy’s unparalleled work ethic was a testament to her character; anyone fortunate enough to employ her could expect an employee who consistently surpassed their highest expectations with unwavering determination and boundless enthusiasm. Judy’s qualities extended beyond the workplace: she was a fantastic friend, known for her fun-loving attitude, her self-deprecating sense of humour, and her warm and friendly nature. She readily offered her support, wisdom, and time to anyone who crossed her path, leaving a permanent mark on the hearts of those fortunate enough to know her.
Judy enjoyed many hobbies including garage sales, game nights and scrapbooking, which she shared joyfully with her cherished friends Maureen, Anita, Gladys, Brittney, Sue, Katrina, and Elaine. She loved to travel and went to Ireland, France, Spain, and Italy. However, a “dog’s picnic” road trip to Innisfail with her dogs and her beloved sister Gayle was one of her most treasured experiences.
Judy’s boundless love extended to her grandchildren, who adored her. She made each of them feel special and involved them in her creative projects and fun gatherings. Game nights were intense and filled with laughter. Her sense of humor remained unwavering, even during challenging times, bringing laughter to those around her.
Judy’s zest for life was infectious. She would want us to laugh more, cherish family and friendships, work diligently, and always be on time – which, to Judy, meant always being early.
Besides her husband, Judy is survived by her three sons and two daughters-in-law, Jason (Jessica), Steve (Danielle), and Daman, along with six adoring grandchildren, Taylor, Leah, Summer, Colton, Eloise, and Quillan. She is also survived by four sisters, Gayle, Cathy, Donna (Billy), Leslie (Rod), one brother, Dean (Dawn), and three stepsiblings, Susan, Kevin, and Jim.
Judy was predeceased by her father, Vincent, and her mother, Lorraine.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the doctors and staff at the Tom Baker Center, her dedicated homecare team, and the compassionate staff at AgeCare SkyPointe Hospice.
In Judy’s memory, let’s carry forward her enthusiasm for life, her unwavering dedication, and her warm sense of humor, ensuring that her legacy lives on in our hearts.
