It is with heavy hearts that we, the family, announce the passing of Judy Anne MacAskill on Sunday, January 22, 2023, in the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, at the age of 68.
Born July 16, 1954, she was the daughter of the late Cyril and Margaret (McPhee) Gushue.
For over 40 years, Judy was employed with MT&T and Bell Aliant until retirement.
She is survived by her loving husband, Robert “Dick”; sons, John and Mark Cameron, Sydney; stepdaughters, Shauna MacAskill (Mike Marsh),Sydney and Erin MacAskill, Halifax; brother Paddy Gushue (Tania), Islandview; grandson, Evan; step-grandchildren, Logan, Lauren and Jenna; step-great-granddaughter, Ava; and nephews, Matthew and her buddy, Kamren Lelievre. She will be dearly missed by her special cousin, Ann Pitchuk; her partner in crime, Julie Bennett; longtime family friend of 65 years, Lucina Burke; cousins, aunts and uncles; sisters-in-law, Anne and Liz (Ross); and brother-in-law, Dan.
A special thank you to Dr. Ryan Kelly and Dr. MacInnis, as well as the palliative care nurses for the exceptional care provided to Judy.
Memorials may be made to the An Cala Palliative Care Unit at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
As Judy requested, there will be no visitation. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
