SAUDER, Judith Lynn “Judy”
August 28, 1952 – January 13, 2024
With profound sadness and heavy hearts, we announce the sudden passing of Judy at the Greater Niagara General Hospital on Saturday January 13, 2024 at the age of 71. Loving and caring mother to Chris Rothy (Tara), Jenny Rothy (John) and Lisa Sauder (Antonio). Cherished grandmother to Jack and Julia Russell. Judy is the beloved daughter of the late Herbert Logan McInnes and late Beverley Jean McInnes and a loving niece to Frank MacKenzie. Survived by her siblings Diane Andoniadis (late Andy), Don McInnes (Carrie), and Bill McInnes (Cathy). She will be sadly missed by many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
Judy was a selfless and passionate person who spent her entire life caring for others, especially her family. Her calling was to be a nurse and in 1973, she graduated as a registered nurse from St. Joseph’s Hospital School of Nursing. She absolutely flourished in the field, a field she remained active in right up until her passing. Over her 51-year nursing career, she developed advanced skills needed across multiple disciplines to be the best that she can be for others. Both in the Niagara region and Florida, Judy was a leader in delivering exemplary nursing care in a multitude of healthcare settings such as medicine, geriatric care, Victorian Order of Nurses community care, hospice, dialysis, PCU, cardiac care, and since 2009 specializing in footcare with Bayshore Home Health. Judy was the nurse you wanted in your corner; she was sincere and caring to the core and exhibited a tremendous work ethic that devoted all her time advocating for the needs of others, especially those in crisis.
Judy’s caring nature doesn’t end there; her love to support and nourish extended into her passion for gardening, as well as her pets. She loved the garden and cared for her plants and pets as deeply as she did for her patients; She often nursed a sick plant back to health or opened her home to an animal in need. Her motherly ways provided comfort and support. Her smile and her laughter would be remembered by all who had the chance to meet her. You only had to meet her once to get this gift; the joy emitting from Judy would resonate with those around her and somehow made you want to pay it forward. This was Judy’s superpower; she devoted her life to loving her family unconditionally and fighting disease and illness for others. With everyone she encountered, she was able to make love and laughter infectious. A special thanks to Niagara Health physicians, and Niagara Falls intensive care unit staff for the support and care they provided.
