Judith Layton «Judy» Fraser –
79, Truro. Judy’s family are saddened to announce her
passing on Monday, November 27, 2023, at Colchester East Hants Health
Centre, Truro, with her daughter, Tara, at her side. Born in Truro,
she was a daughter of the late Layton and Mona (MacKay)
Rushton.
Judy graduated from CCA and Success Business College. Her
work started with Department of Lands and Forest and ended at her job
with Adult Education to become a stay-at-home Mom for seven years.
During this time, she became an administrator for her husband and
son-in-law with Layton’s Taxi.
Judy was a member of First United Church where she was
actively involved from childhood into her adult years. She enjoyed
volunteering her time as a «Pink Lady» at Colchester
Regional Hospital as well as the Ladies Auxiliary. She also sat on the
committee of the Butler centre. Judy loved to travel and dance, and
enjoyed times spent with her close friends.
Left to mourn her passing are her beloved husband, Garnet;
daughter, Tara (John) Starratt; son, Vernon Graham «VG»;
step-daughter, Shelley (Norm); loving grandchildren, Daniel, Jessica,
Evan (Alexandra), Brenden; sisters, Yvonne (Robert) Fox, Darlene
(Hector) Campbell, Donna Rushton; many nieces and
nephews.
The family wishes to extend their thanks and appreciation to
Dr. Cortney Smith and Angela of Palliative Care, the nurses and
VON.
At Judy’s request, there will be no visiting or
funeral service. Interment will be held at a later date. In lieu of
flowers, donations in Judy’s memory to Canadian Mental
Health Association Colchester East Hants Branch are
welcomed.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall –
Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro. Public messages of
