Judith «Judy» Irene Steeves
1941-2023
Judy Steeves, 81, of Forest Dale Home formerly of
Hillsborough passed away on September 21st, 2023 at the
nursing home with her family by her side. She was born in
Edgett’s Landing on December 3, 1941, the daughter of the late Enoch
and Frances (Garland) Milton.
Judy worked at T. Eaton Company in her younger years, where
she met her future husband, Ivan. Judy and Ivan
were pillars of the community. Together they operated the Hillsborough
Irving for several years, and later she did childcare in her
home.
Judy will be remembered for her kind and gentle
manner. She always had a smile and a warm welcome
for everyone. She helped out whenever and wherever
needed; and was like a mother to many, even a foster mom over the
years. She volunteered with the Hillsborough Firefighters
Ladies Auxiliary and served as president at times. She was a member of
the Hillsborough Baptist Church and attended when she was
able.
Gardening, knitting, scrapbooking, baking and drinking tea
were some of her favourite pastimes; but her family was her pride and
joy. Nothing made her eyes light up like visits
from her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They were
her greatest blessing and she was always ready to greet them with
hugs, homemade cookies and pink peppermints.
Mom- you were loving, selfless and hard working. We love you
for all that you have done for us; for your wisdom and kindness, your
patience and generosity, and for always believing in
us. You are the biggest gift God has given us and
we were so lucky to call you MOM.
She will be deeply missed by her daughters, Velda Steeves
(Reg) of Salem, Marney Steeves (Arden Beaumont) of Hillsborough,
Krista King (Kevin) of Sharon, ON and Carrie Steeves of Riverview; her
treasured grandchildren, Matthew (Jackie), Amanda (Daniel), Brandon,
Andrea, Marissa (Nathaniel) and Marley (Donovan); great grandchildren,
Macie, Makenzie, Kaylee, Cheyenne, Lilly, Violet, Calla, Willow, Hazel
and Ivy; sister-in law, Peggy LeBlanc of Riverview; brother-in-law,
Bernard Snider of Hillsborough. She will also be missed by
several nieces, nephews and by all her extended family and
friends.
Besides her parents she was predeceased by her beloved
husband, Ivan; sister, Glendine Snider; brother, Darrel Milton;
half-brother Vaughan Milton (Sylvia) and half-sister, Ferne Nelson
(Russell).
The funeral service will be held at the Albert County Funeral
Home on Saturday, September 23rd, 2023 at 3:00pm with Pastor Leonard
Geldart officiating. There will be a time of
visitation from 2:00-3:00pm before the
service. Interment will be in the Shenstone Cemetery,
Shenstone, NB.
For those who wish, donations to the Shenstone Cemetery,
Forest Dale Home Inc. or charity of the donor’s choice would be
greatly appreciated.
