Obituary
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Joyce Marlene Shubrook, who passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, December 18, 2022, with family by her side.
She was born October 30, 1947, in Welland, Ontario, to Oliver and Mary Clark. She grew up in farm country and through her parents example, there is where she gained her never give-up attitude and hard work ethic.
Joyce was a devoted and loving wife to Edwin Shubrook for 41 years. The two were not only life companions, but the best of friends. They spent many years enjoying each others company no matter the occasion.
Joyce was an absolute animal lover, an avid reader, and one great card partner. She brought spunk and spirit to any task brought to her, but most of all loved to play the role of caregiver, whether it be a helping hand to her family, or a stranger on the street. She was at her best in kindness.
She is survived by her husband Edwin Shubrook; her daughter Peggy (Peter) Schofield, her step-daughter Brenda (Jermie) Vasseur. Her grandchildren; Amanda (Stephanie), Daniel, Wesley, Caitlin (Joe), Delilah, and Dylan. Her sisters Marion Taylor, and Doreen Crowe; Nieces, Nephews and many, many friends.
She was preceded by her son John (Lori) York.
Joyce will be especially remembered for her fiery spark that she brought to each and every day, and for the beautiful strength she showed to everyone she met in life.
A special thank you to her nurses Kelsey, and Tera; and to nurse practitioner Susan Clark.
Memorial contributions to OSPCA or Canadian Cancer Society greatly appreciated.
Graveside Service to be held at Mickle Memorial Cemetery on Friday, July 7, 2023 at 11:00 am.
